Reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017
As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the Saumur arrondissement changed to the nine municipalities of Cernusson , Cléré-sur-Layon , Coron , La Plaine , Lys-Haut-Layon , Montilliers , Passavant-sur-Layon and Saint-Paul-du -Bois and Somloire as well as the area of the former municipality of La Salle-de-Vihiers and from the Arrondissement Angers the area of the two former municipalities Chanzeaux and Valanjou to the Arrondissement Cholet.
