Drain is a town and commune Déléguée in the French community Orée d'Anjou with 2,182 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . The inhabitants are called Drainois .
With effect from December 15, 2015, the municipalities of Bouzillé , Champtoceaux , Drain , Landemont , Liré , Saint-Christophe-la-Couperie , Saint-Laurent-des-Autels , Saint-Sauveur-de-Landemont and La Varenne were removed from the former Communauté de communes du Canton de Champtoceaux amalgamated into a Commune nouvelle with the name Orée d'Anjou. The municipality of Drain belonged to the arrondissement of Cholet and the canton of La Pommeraye (until 2015: canton of Champtoceaux ).
geography
Drain is located about 29 kilometers east-northeast of Nantes on the edge of the Mauges landscape on an arm of the Loire . The area belongs to the Anjou and Gros Plant du Pays Nantais wine-growing regions . The development of traffic takes place through the former Route nationale 751 (today's D751).
