Vihiers is a town and commune Déléguée in the French community Lys-Haut-Layon with 2,255 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the municipalities of Les Cerqueux-sous-Passavant , La Fosse-de-Tigné , Nueil-sur-Layon , Saint-Hilaire-du-Bois , Tancoigné , Tigné , Trémont , Vihiers , and Le Voide were closed a Commune nouvelle with the name Lys-Haut-Layon merged. The municipality of Vihiers was part of the Saumur arrondissement and the Cholet-2 canton (until 2015: Les Ponts-de-Cé ).
