Nueil-sur-Layon is a village and a commune Déléguée in the French community Lys-Haut-Layon with 1,337 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . The inhabitants are called Nueillais .
With effect from January 1, 2016, the communes of Les Cerqueux-sous-Passavant , La Fosse-de-Tigné , Nueil-sur-Layon , Tancoigné , Tigné , Trémont and Vihiers from the former Communauté de communes du Vihiersois-Haut-Layon were closed a Commune nouvelle with the name Lys-Haut-Layon merged. The municipality of Nueil-sur-Layon belonged to the Arrondissement of Cholet and the canton of Cholet-2 (until 2015: Canton Vihiers ).

Nueil-sur-Layon is located about 40 kilometers east-northeast of Cholet on the left bank of the Layon in the Mauges .
