Montilliers is a French commune with 1,223 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Cholet and the Canton of Cholet-2 (until 2015: Canton Vihiers ). The inhabitants are called Monteglésiens .

Montilliers is located about 31 kilometers east-northeast of Cholet in the Mauges countryside . The Lys flows through the municipality . Montilliers is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Faveraye-Mâchelles in the north, Aubigné-sur-Layon in the north-east, Lys-Haut-Layon in the south, east and west, Cernusson in the south-east and Valanjou in the west and north-west.
