The young editor Mia Alesana is on the ship to give a lecture to the passengers about the Cook Islands and how the country is threatened by rising sea levels. Arriving on the islands, she learns that a mighty cyclone is approaching her home island of Talapata. All residents can be rescued in time, but Peter Hellmann, Mia's father and pastor of the community, refuses to leave his home island, he would rather die in the storm. Mia sets out with a motorboat that was stolen without further ado to fetch her father from the island. Captain Burger, who noticed the facts, follows her with another boat. Mia doesn't manage to persuade her father, which changes with the arrival of the captain. He makes up his mind and all three can leave the island just in time. Back on the ship, they see media images of the extent of the storm. Almost nothing is left of Hellmann's home island and the rest of the inhabitants. The people now want to go to New Zealand, where they are recognized as refugees by the local government. Peter Hellmann also ultimately decides to stay with his people.

Plant researcher Tessa Gerber is also on the Cook Islands route. Your assignment is to search for Magnus Tennstett and his house to secure the file on a plant that Tennstett had sent to the laboratory in Germany for testing. For years, Tennstett has been looking for a plant that is suitable to cure the disease to which his daughter fell victim. The last plant sample was extremely positive. But Tessa is not unobserved on the ship; her work colleague Klaus Parker is tasked with checking her, as Tessa and Magnus were once a couple. And Tessa doesn't even think about stealing from the man she still loves. She just wants to talk to him. Ship's doctor Dr. Sander, who also knows Magnus well, brings her to him. But Parker can follow them unnoticed and steals the laptop and hard drive when they arrive at his house. Magnus now believes that Tessa is behind the theft. So he and Sander come back to the Amadea . There Tessa, who by now knows that Parker has the hard drive with important information, finally manages to tell him the whole truth. Tennstett then goes to Parker's cabin and demands his hard drive back. However, the latter threatens him with a knife and in turn asks Tennstett to give him the password so that he can access the text. Tessa and Dr. Sander arrive in time to intervene. Tennstett can take his laptop back.

Oskar Schifferle, who is responsible for entertainment on board, complains ship doctor Dr. Sander kept saying that he was missing something. He is looking for someone to make the pilgrimage with him along the Camino de Santiago. Oskar Schifferle and Beatrice choose the same route and so it happens, as both intended, that all four walk the path together.
