The nature reserve Melscheder Mühlenbachtal with 23.5  hectares is located in the urban area of Sundern and in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated in 1993 with the Sundern landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis for the first time under the name of the Melscheder Mühlenbachtal landscape protection area southwest of Melschede as a landscape protection area (LSG) with an area of ​​24.04 hectares. When the landscape planner Sundern was reorganized, the LSG was shown again and made slightly smaller. The LSG was designated as a type C landscape protection area , meadow valleys and significant extensive grassland. The LSG goes in the west to the city limits to Balve . The Melscheder Mühle is directly adjacent to the Balver Staggebiet . In the east the LSG goes to Melschede Castle . The Sundern nature reserve borders to the north and south .
