The protected landscape area Schweingründchen / Berghagen / Unter der Königsseite with 23.49  hectares is located in the urban area of Marsberg and in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2008 with the Marsberg landscape plan . The LSG was designated as a type B landscape planning area, peripheral locations, open land and cultivated land protection. In the LSG there are agricultural grassland areas that extend to the edge of the Marsberg settlement. The Upper Ruhr Valley Railway is part of the LSG. Most of the LSG belongs to the Fauna-Flora-Habitat-Area (FFH) water system Diemel and Hoppecke (Natura 2000-Nr. DE-4617-302) with 588 hectares. The LSG borders in the east on the outskirts of Marsberg. Otherwise almost only the limits nature reserve Lower Diemeltal , nature reserve Hagen / King side and the nature reserve on the Wiemecke on.

Protection purpose

The designation was carried out to ensure the diversity and uniqueness of the landscape in the vicinity of the localities and the old agricultural priority areas by keeping it open. Also because of its special importance for recreation.

Legal regulations

As in the other landscape protection areas in the city, the LSG prohibits building structures. Construction projects for horticulture, agriculture and forestry are exempt from the ban. The Lower Nature Conservation Authority can issue exceptional permits for buildings of all kinds. As in the other type B landscape protection areas in Meschede, the LSG prohibits initial afforestation and the creation of Christmas trees , ornamental branches and tree nurseries . There is a requirement to keep the LSG free of woodland through agricultural use or suitable maintenance measures.
