The landscape protection area Seitental der Arpe with an area of ​​4.4  hectares is located east of Altenhellefeld in the urban area of Sundern and in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a landscape protection area (LSG) by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2019 when the Sundern landscape plan was redesigned . The LSG was designated as a type C landscape protection area , meadow valleys and significant extensive grassland. The LSG is surrounded by the Sundern nature reserve . Before that, the area was part of the Sundern nature reserve from 1993. The LSG borders directly on the city limits in the east and south and on the nature reserve Feldgehölz Almenscheid in the west .
