Gostynin-Włocławek Landscape Protection Park

The Landscape Protection Park Gostynin-Włocławek ( Polish : Gostynińsko-Włocławski Park Krajobrazowy , GWPK for short ) is a landscape protection park (nature park, nature reserve) in Poland and is located between Płock , Gostynin , Łąck , Włocławek and Kowal . The landscape protection park protects the vast areas of the Vistula river valley. Its area corresponds almost entirely to the area of the Gostynin-Włocławek Forests ( Lasy Gostynińsko-Włocławskie ). The Gostynin-Włocławek forests are the forest areas that have characteristic properties and are therefore representative of this region. They are managed by the Polish State Forests ( Lasy Państwowe ).

geography

The area of the Gostynin-Włocławek Landscape Protection Park is 389.50 km² and is surrounded by a 141.95 km² outer protection zone.

Flora and fauna

In the area of the landscape protection park, many trees, plants and bodies of water are under protection, e.g. B. the Jan oak, which is estimated to be 300 years old (the tree is about 20 meters high and the trunk is more than 5 meters in circumference). There are many tongue pool lakes here , e.g. B. Lucieńskie, Radyszyn and Łąkie Lakes. Trees and forest plants dominate the Gostynin-Włocławek Landscape Protection Park. Pine and mixed forests take up the largest share of the area. Alluvial and alder forests grow in the river valleys and around the lakes . Oak and hornbeam forests can be found near Łąck .

In the 1980s, several beavers were released in the park by hunters led by Czesław Sielicki and Grzegorz Wiśniewski , and they have settled in here perfectly. Interestingly, lynxes came from the Kampinos Heath ( Puszcza Kampinoska ) and they have also settled in very well. The release of several wolves is also planned .

The Center for Rehabilitation and Breeding of Protected Birds ( Ośrodek Rehabilitacji i Hodowli Ptaków Chronionych ) founded by Czesław Sielicki existed in the Gostynin-Włocławek Landscape Protection Park , which mainly dealt with the breeding of peregrine falcons . The center was closed at the beginning of 2009 by the managing director of the landscape protection park. The release of peregrine falcons in the area of the landscape park is carried out by the Association of Stowarzyszenie na Rzecz Dzikich Zwierząt “Sokół” (Association for Wildlife Protection).
