The long hill of Rude Strand ( Danish Langhøj ved Rude strand ) is located between Lyngbakkevej and Hougaardsvej in a holiday home area just under 300 m from the Baltic Sea. It is a 60 m long and about 10 m wide low hill that once covered two stone boxes from the Neolithic . Rude Strand is east of Odder in Jutland in Denmark .

Neolithic monuments are an expression of the culture and ideology of Neolithic societies. Their origin and function are considered to be the hallmarks of social development.

description

At the east end of the long hill there was an area for ritual acts, which is set in stone and marked by thick tree trunks, and which is older than the hill. This shows that in the early phase of the Neolithic beaker culture there were various complex forms of plant. The culture, otherwise known for dolmens and passage graves, shows with the long hill of Rude Strand, next to the long hills of Barkjær , a new form of cult site, which based on the finds may have been used for around 1000 years.

The two stone boxes excavated by Museum Moesgård in 1894 and again in 1977/78 lie on the longitudinal axis in the eastern area of the hill. The western box consists of plate-like stones of different thicknesses on each long side, between which the two not very massive end stones stand. The eastern box consists of six more massive stones on the long sides and two stones of different thickness on the narrow sides. Their floor was covered with slabs. No further installations were found in three search cuts in the western part of the hill. In the west of the two stone boxes, in addition to the remains of about 20 people, a damaged copper disc with two holes (worn on the arm) with a decoration of punched bowls was found.

Similar long hills can be found on Havermose , Hørret Skov and Givehøje .
