Lapporten in winter ...
... and in summer

Lapporten , in German Lappenpforte , is a trough valley southeast of Abisko in the Swedish part of Lapland . The North Sami name Čuonjávággi is made up of the words čuonjá for goose and vággi for Fjallenal , with the prefix used in other place names in the vicinity. Another, but older, spelling is Tjuonavagge .

The valley is bordered by the two mountains Tjuonatjåkka ( 1554  m above sea level ) and Nissuntjårro ( 1738  m above sea level ), the bottom of the valley is at an altitude of about 1000  m above sea level.

Lapporten is not far from Lake Torneträsk within the 25,781 hectare FFH area Nissuntjårro, which was created as part of Natura 2000 . In the west this area borders directly on the Abisko National Park .

With its characteristic U-profile, it forms the landmark of Abisko and is one of the most photographed mountain motifs in Lapland.
