Larry Allan Morse
Larry Allan Morse , more often L. A. Morse, (born July 30, 1945 ) is an American writer and sculptor .
Life
Morse grew up in Los Angeles . He attended the University of California Berkeley and San Francisco State College and earned two degrees in English.
At the end of the 1960s he moved to Toronto , where he worked briefly in educational television and for five years as an administrator at the University of Toronto . After extensive travels through Southeast Asia , he wrote the novel The Flesh Eaters . He was inspired by the true story of Sawney Beane and his family.
Morse wrote four other detective novels. Including The Old Dick , with which he won an Edgar from the Mystery Writers of America . He is also said to have been instrumental in the publication of An Old-Fashioned Mystery , the lost masterpiece by author Runa Fairleigh.
He switched to a different medium with the release of Video Trash and Treasures , a two-volume guide to those obscure and bizarre films of the 1980s. Since around 1990 Morse has worked primarily as a visual artist , especially as a sculptor .
