Fine had a daughter named Phyllis with his wife Mable, who died in 1967, and a son Johnny, who died in a car accident in 1961 at the age of 24. Fine suffered a stroke while filming Kook's Tour in 1970 and no longer appeared as a comedian. He died in 1975 at the age of 73.
