Lars-Oscar Nilsson

Lars-Oscar Nilsson is a former Swedish football coach . In 1976, who mainly worked in the youth field, won the Swedish cup competition with AIK .

Career

Nilsson worked at Svenska Fotbollförbundet in youth work before the forty-year-old was hired by the Swedish first division club AIK in 1976 to succeed Kurt Liander as the new head coach. He brought some young players with him to his new club, such as Stefan Lundin and Tom Källström , whom he knew from his work as national coach of the Swedish youth teams. The 1976 season started badly for the club, with a 1-0 win against iF Elfsborg on the eighth day of the game and their first win of the season. In the cup competition she was all the more successful and reached the final with a 2-1 semi-final win over previous year's double winner Malmö FF . After a 1-1 draw in the first game against Landskrona BoIS , a 3-0 win in the replay brought the first title win since the Cup triumph in 1950. In the European Cup Winners' Cup 1976/77 , however, the team failed in the first round against Turkish Cup winners Galatasaray Istanbul .

Despite reaching seventh place in the table at the end of 1976, AIK signed Gunnar Nordahl, a new trainer for the following season. Later, Nilsson was first chairman of the Swedish coaching association between 1980 and 1981.
