Lars Eberlein

Lars Eberlein (born May 11, 1971 ) is a German entrepreneur and basketball official .

Life

Eberlein played soccer in his  homeland in Hesse and made it to the state league there . In 2009, he replaced Steffen Hausdörfer as managing director of Baskets Jena GmbH, the license holder of the Science City Jena team . While Eberlein was assigned to the commercial area, Tino Stumpf took over responsibility for the sporting area as another managing director. Before that, Eberlein was a partner in Jena Baskets GmbH and, from 2007, managing director of JenArena KG, the operator of the home arena for the Jena team. In 2011, Eberlein was briefly in discussion as Vice President of the FC Carl Zeiss Jena football club , but rejected these speculations. During his tenure at Science City Jena, he was promoted to the basketball Bundesliga  in 2016 and relegated to the Bundesliga in 2019. He is credited with having significantly improved the economic situation of Science City Jena.

His main occupation is, among other things, property management, building equipment and real estate. As managing director of JenArena KG, Eberlein is involved in the renovation project for the Ernst Abbe sports field .
