Life

Stumpf rose from youth to head coach at the then second division club Science City Jena in December 2008 when the club separated from Sean McCaw . At the same time, he also held the positions of sports director and basketball department head at TuS Jena and supervised youth teams. In December 2009, Stumpf gave up the coaching post when the team was on a relegation zone to concentrate on the rest of their duties.

In July 2010 he again took over the position of head coach in Jena, his other activities had been distributed elsewhere. In mid-March 2011, Stumpf was on leave after Jena's team was in danger of relegation. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season , Stumpf hired the ProA league team BG Karlsruhe as a coach. The start went wrong with only one win in six games, Stumpf was  replaced by Torsten Daume at the end of October 2011 .

In 2012, Stumpf took on a leading position in youth work at the Mitteldeutscher Basketball Club (MBC) and looked after the joint team of MBC and BG Bitterfeld-Sandersdorf-Wolfen (BSW) in the youth basketball league . At the end of 2012 he also trained the BSW team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB , initially provisionally and from spring 2013 until the end of the 2012/13 season . Stumpf switched to the position of sporting director at BSW during the 2013 summer break, but returned to the coaching position in December 2013 after the club  split from Torsten Schierenbeck as a result of a series of defeats . In the 2014/15 season , Stumpf was relegated with the team from the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and was then also responsible for BSW in the 1st Regional League, while he also continued to lead the youth work at Mitteldeutscher BC. In 2016 he returned to Science City Jena and took up the position of junior manager. At the end of June 2019, Stumpf was elected to the position of Vice President of the Thuringian Basketball Association . On November 1, 2019, he started his service as regional trainer for Thuringia and at the same time ended his work as association vice-president.
