Schierenbeck grew up in Berlin  and from the age of eight played basketball at TSC Berlin 1893, first in the youth, then in the men's area. His coaching career also began at TSC, where he initially looked after a B youth team. He was also active as a referee and was involved in the association's board. Due to knee problems, he ended his playing career at the age of 22.

At the end of his twenties he took the step to become a professional trainer, having previously carried out this activity on a voluntary basis or part-time. From 1995 to 1999 he worked as a trainer at SSV Lokomotive Bernau . In the 1999/2000 game year he led the BG Zehlendorf men's team to promotion to the 2nd basketball division . From 2001 to 2003 Schierenbeck coached the men of RSV Eintracht and led them to win the state cup in 2002 and a year later to promotion to the 2nd regional league.

From 2003 to 2006 he coached the regional league team BBC Magdeburg , and in 2006 he returned to Lok Bernau. In 2010, the Barnimer rose under Schierenbeck's leadership as head coach in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . In January 2011 there was a separation between Schierenbeck and Bernau due to the difficult sporting situation.

For the 2011/12 season he took over the coaching position at BG Dorsten in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB. He led the BG as a newcomer to the table as sixth in the points round in the playoffs, where his team was eliminated by Leipzig. He was then named the best ProB trainer of the 2011/12 season by the internet service eurobasket.com . In the 2012/13 season Schierenbeck had to accept relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga ProB with Dorsten, after which he left the club for private reasons.

He started the 2013/14 season as a coach of BG Bitterfeld-Sandersdorf-Wolfen 06 in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB. In December 2013 he was released there after eight defeats in a row.

In 2014 he became trainer and sports director of the BG Bonn-Meckenheim.
