Torsten Daume (born February 2, 1971 ) is a German basketball coach .

career

Daume comes from Wuppertal, he was a player at VfL Bochum before he moved to the gymnastics community Zur rote Erde from 1848 Schwelm. There he played for the men's team, became a member of the board and took over as coach of the men's team during the 1998/99 season. He also became head of the club's basketball department and carried out managerial tasks. In the spring of 2000 he led Schwelmer from the regional league to the 2nd basketball league and reached fourth place in the table as a promoted player. In the 2001/02 and 2002/03 season, Schwelm was runner-up in the 2. Bundesliga Nord under Daume, before winning the title in 2003/04, which promoted the team to the basketball league - this was the greatest success in the club's history. During the championship season, Daume had led his team to a series of 17 victories in a row.

Daumes team, which meanwhile competed under the name Union Baskets Schwelm, had sparked great basketball enthusiasm in the region with the success: All Bundesliga home games were played in the Unihalle Wuppertal due to lack of space, but Schwelm rose at the end of the 2004/05 season as bottom of the table again. The financial situation made it impossible to play in the 2nd division after relegating to the Bundesliga, so Daumes Schwelmer's term of office ended in spring 2005.

At the end of December 2006, Daume, who had meanwhile moved to Karlsruhe with his family  , took over the coaching position at the second division USC Heidelberg . In February 2011 there was a separation.

In May 2011 he became sporting director at BG Karlsruhe  in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA , after separating from Tino Stumpf in October 2011, he took over the coaching position. In the 2012/13 season he led the BG into the semi-finals of the ProA championship round. On July 1, 2013, Daume took up the post of managing director of BG Karlsruhe GmbH in addition to his coaching duties. After the end of the 2013/14 season, his term of office in Karlsruhe ended.

Daume then worked for a financial services company.
