Lars Grenacher

Lars Grenacher (born October 9, 1967 in Ludwigshafen ) is a German radiologist and university professor.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1986 at the humanistic Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Ludwigshafen , he completed his military service until 1987 and then studied human medicine at the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg . He received his doctorate in 1997 in radiology (doctoral supervisor Götz Richter) on the subject of computed tomographic volumetry of liver cirrhosis. Grenacher completed his specialist training at the Heidelberg University Clinic for Radiology at the chair of Günter W. Kauffmann, an interventional radiologist. After a year and a half research stay at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) with Gerhard van Kaick, he completed his habilitation in 2006 at Kauffmann on an interventional radiological topic Influences of physical and mechanical properties of stents in the treatment of peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAD) and received the Venia legendi as a private lecturer in same year. In 2008 the Senate of Heidelberg University awarded him the extraordinary (apl.) Professorship .

Grenacher was deputy medical director and senior physician of the Radiological University Clinic (DIR) from 2009 to 2015 under the direction of Hans-Ulrich Kauczor before he himself became chairman of the management team and the post of medical director of Conradia Radiologie München (name change, previously : Diagnostik München) took over.

Lars Grenacher is a Protestant, married and has three children.

Grenacher's radiological focus is the radiological diagnosis of the upper gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, stomach) as well as the hepatobiliary system with a focus on the diagnosis of the pancreas .

Focus of work

Grenacher headed a project on innovative pancreas diagnostics for four years at the Collaborative Research Center / SFB / TR 125 Cognition-guided Surgery and was head of diagnostics in an EU project of the FP 7 program ( save me No. 26330) for diagnostics and therapy of Pancreatic cancer using nanoparticles.

With regard to his main topics, he is a member of national and international committees for the creation of guidelines: Head of the diagnostic group of the S3 guideline on gastric cancer (completion 2019), head of diagnostics of the European guideline for cystic pancreatic tumors (completion 2018), member of the diagnostics group for the S3 guideline on esophageal carcinoma (to be completed in 2019) and member of the seven-member interdisciplinary steering committee for the creation of pancreas guidelines in Germany. With the latter beginning 2019 the S3 guideline of the AWMF on acute and chronic pancreatitis in the working group "Autoimmune pancreatitis" and the S3 guideline of the AWMF and DGVS on exocrine pancreatic cancer as deputy head of the diagnostic group.

He is also a member of the board of the Abdominal Radiology Working Group of the German Radiological Society (DRG), from 2014 to 2018 as deputy chairman, since 2018 as chairman.

Grenacher is the author of scientific papers and several book chapters on his main areas.

He is also a reviewer for radiological and surgical journals and also a member of the editorial boards of several journals.

He is a member of radiological specialist societies, partly a leading member (so-called fellow status) z. B. the Cardiovascular and Interventional Society of Europe (CIRSE) and the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) and appears as a speaker, moderator and organizer of abdominal topics at specialist congresses.

Grenacher also holds a patent for magnetic resonance imaging in the inner organic body.
