Lars Michael Stransky

Lars Michael Stransky (* 1966 in Trier ) is a German horn player.

life and career

From 1977 Stransky was a student of Erig Einecke in Ludwigshafen am Rhein and studied with Erich Penzel at the Cologne University of Music from 1983 to 1985 . From 1991 to 1993 he studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Roland Berger on the Wienerhorn .

From 1979 to 1982 he was solo horn player in the Rhineland-Palatinate Youth Orchestra and from 1982 to 1984 solo horn player in the Federal Youth Orchestra and in 1984 in the World Youth Orchestra .

In 1985 he became principal horn in the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and played from 1986 to 1993 at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Duisburg . In 1993 he got a job as solo horn player at the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic , where he has been a member since 1996. He has also been a member of the Vienna Court Music Band since 1997 . In addition to his membership in the ensemble PhilKlang Wien, phil-Blech Wien, “Die Wiener” and “Heubod'n Blås”, he also has various international solo commitments as a horn player, including with the Vienna Philharmonic, most recently in the Mozart year. CD recordings include Richard Strauss' 1st Horn Concerto with the Vienna Philharmonic under the direction of André Previn at DGG.

Stransky is a member of the Wiener Waldhornverein , of which he was temporarily president.
