The Cinco Lagunas are glacial lakes formed during the last ice age, which are located on the north side of the central system of the Sierra de Gredos at an altitude between 1850 and 2170 m in the Spanish province of Ávila .

Geographical location

On a by cairns marked trail from Navalperal de Tormes coming, it is some 10 km to the Laguna de Majalaescoba . On the left flank you climb steeply for another 200 m to the Circo de Cinco Lagunas, which is separated by a granite wall. Once in the Circo, you reach one after the Lagunas (lakes) Bajera (2,095 m), Galana, Medianera, Doncella and ultimately the largest, Cimera (2,125 m).

From the Laguna Cimera you can continue the steep ascent over a granite field to the summit of the Galana (2,572 m) over the Laguna del Gutre. At 2,170 m, this lagoon is the highest in the Sierra de Gredos and is fed by the snow field on the north face of the Galana, which exists almost all year round.
