Lasar Alexandrovich Shaulov ( Russian Лазарь Александрович Шаулов ) is a Russian entrepreneur, founder and chairman of the Unitile group of companies until 2014.

biography

Shaulow was born on February 18, 1969 in the city of Khasavyurt ( Dagestani ASSR ) into a family of teachers. His father Alexander Lasarewitsch Schaulow (June 7, 1935 - December 7, 2002) was a candidate for historical studies. His mother, Tamara Ivanovna Shaulova (born September 9, 1940, née Chripko) was a middle school teacher. In 1971 the family moved to Persianowski , Rostov Oblast , where his father worked as a history teacher. After graduating from school in Novocherkassk , Lasar Schaulow studied at the Agricultural College of the Don Region , where he was one of the best students. After the company internship after the second year of studies, Schaulow left this educational institution because he was dissatisfied with the prospects after graduating from a technical college. In 1988 he worked as an apprentice at the Novocherkassk electric locomotive factory , but in two years he quit his job to follow in his father's footsteps. After two years of preparation, Shaulov was enrolled in the historical faculty of  Rostov State University  , which he completed in 1995 with a thesis on the role of foreign capital during the first industrial revolution.

Career

Lasar Schaulow began his career as a student. First he worked on a combine harvester 1987/1988, later he dealt with the retail trade in Rostov-on-Don . In 1993 he was one of five shareholders in the semi-wholesale company "Lidija" and owned 20% of the share capital and voting rights. The next line of business of the company was the first national loan program in cooperation with the Rostov bank Zentrinvest . In 1994 Schaulow founded and managed the company "Finansovy Sputnik" (financial advisor) and then several other companies that were involved in stock market transactions.

In 1998 he took over the position of general director of the "Strojfarfor" factory in the city of Shakhty ( Rostov region ), which produced ceramic tiles, and eventually became the sole shareholder and owner of 100% of the company's shares. During this time, the factory improved its production processes and developed into the Unitile holding family , which was founded in 2007 and also included a ceramics factory based in Voronezh and the “Quartz” factory in Saint Petersburg . By 2008, the group controlled over 20% of the domestic ceramic tile market.

Corporate dispute

The holding company was hit by the financial crisis of 2007-2008, which led to the high level of liabilities, which reached 6.3 billion rubles by 2012, which in 2012 reached 6.3 billion rubles. Shaulov remained the sole owner of the shares in the “Strojfarfor” plant and appointed Leonid Majewski as the general manager of the holding. However, Majewski refused to honor Unitile's debt repayment obligations, leading to a corporate conflict. The dispute was settled after Schaulow had transferred effective control of the holding in favor of investment company A1 (part of the Alfa Group ).

Political activity

Lazar Shaulov was elected a member of the Legislative Assembly of Rostov Oblast for two terms . The first time in October 2005 after the runoff election in constituency No. 11 in the city of Shakhty with 70.25 percent of the vote. Next time in March 2008 (4th Assembly term) in the same constituency.

Private life

Lasar Schaulow is married and has 6 children.
