The Laser Zentrum Hannover eV (LZH) is a non-profit institute based in Hannover in the Marienwerder district that carries out research, development and consulting in the field of laser technology . It was founded in 1986 by Hans Kurt Tönshoff , Heinz Haferkamp and Herbert Welling .
tasks
Technology transfer is in the foreground of the work. The LZH is involved in various national and European research and development programs. With around 250 employees, it is one of the largest laser research institutes in Germany. Since it was founded, the LZH has been working closely with the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Labor and Transport . The LZH maintains close cooperation with the Leibniz University of Hanover , the TU Braunschweig and the TU Clausthal in order to strengthen Lower Saxony as a science location.
organization
The LZH has six scientific departments. There are also the technical services , marketing and communication and administration departments. The LZH Laser Academy, a spin-off of the LZH (2003), has its main task in the organization and implementation of courses, seminars and courses in laser technology, e.g. B. for laser safety officers and laser beam specialists.
Scientific departments of the LZH:
- Laser components
- Laser development
- Biomedical optics
- nanotechnology
- Production and system technology
- Material and process technology
Focus of work
CO 2 - , Nd: YAG and diode laser are provided for material processing (cutting, welding, surface finishing) is available. Nano and micro processing with excimer / ultrashort pulse lasers as well as profitability calculations are also focal points of the work at the LZH. In addition, the LZH develops lasers for new applications in measurement technology and medicine and deals with coatings for laser optics and mirrors. Research and development in the field of medicine and biophotonics is also carried out at the LZH. The processing of non-metals such as glass, photovoltaic materials and composite materials - especially CFRP ( carbon fiber reinforced plastic ) are among the tasks of the LZH. Training and further education in laser technology is mainly carried out by the LZH Laser Academy.
