Latifur Rehman

Latifur Rehman , also Latif-ur Rehman (born January 1, 1929 ) is a former Pakistani hockey player who won gold for India in 1948 and silver for Pakistan in 1956 at the Olympic Games.

From 1928 to 1936 India had won three Olympic gold medals, after the Second World War India and Pakistan became independent, the hockey stronghold Punjab was divided between India and Pakistan and also in Bengal players had to choose between Pakistan and India.

Latifur Rehman played with the Indian team at the 1948 Olympic Games in London . Although it was only used in one group game, it helped the Indians win their fourth gold medal in a row. From 1950 Rehman played for the Pakistani national team . At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952, the winger played three games with the team finishing fourth. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , Rehman played in two preliminary round games, the Pakistani team won silver in the end, after the Indians remained victorious in the final.
