Laubuka is a genus of freshwater fish of the subfamily of danios (Danioninae) in the family of carp fish (Cyprinidae). The genus is widespread in India, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Southeast Asia. Several species areendemicto Sri Lanka .
features
Laubuka species are a maximum of 7 cm long and have a heavily flattened body whose belly profile is more curved than the back profile. They are thus similar to the genus Chela ( keel-bellied barbels ), to which some Laubuka species have been assigned, but differ from this genus in that they have more vertebrae in front of the caudal peduncle (14 vs. 17 in Chela cachius, the type species of Chela ), and fewer scales along the sidelines (31 to 37 + 1-2 vs. 56 to 61 + 3-4) and fewer scales in a transverse row on the side of the body (7 to 11 vs. 17 to 19), as well as 14 to 20 branched fin rays in the anal fin , whereas chela cachius has 21 to 23 branched fin rays there.
