Running badge

Running and walking badges are awarded at various levels by the regional associations of the German Athletics Association . The round badges, which are available as cloth badges or pins, show an "L" or a "W" in front of a differently colored background.

Lending Policy

Running badge

For levels 1 - 5: run without a break, any pace

  • Level 1: 15 min continuous run (silver L on a light green background)
  • Level 2: 30 min continuous run (silver L on red background)
  • Level 3: 60 min continuous run (golden L on a blue background)
  • Level 4: 90 min continuous run (silver L on purple background)
  • Level 5: 120 min continuous run (blue L on a silver background)
  • Marathon run: successful participation in a marathon run (blue ML on a gold background)

Walking badge

Movement without a break, any pace

  • Level 1: 30 min continuous walking (blue W on a golden background)
  • Level 2: 60 min continuous walking (golden W on a blue background)
  • Level 3: 120 min continuous walking (blue W on gray background)

The DLV kilometer badge can be awarded for a certain number of kilometers covered in fun runs (between 250 and 10,000). The DLV public run badge for participation in a certain number of public runs within a year was abolished in 1999.

Recognition for the German Sports Badge (DSA)

Since 2013, the fulfillment of the conditions for the running badge as well as for the walking and Nordic walking badges has been partially recognized for the DSA :

From 2013 to 2016 the running badge of levels 3, 4 and 5 as well as the marathon level were part of the German sports badge; also the level 3 walking and Nordic walking badges.

Since 2017, only the level 4, 5 and marathon running badges and the level 3 walking and Nordic walking badges count here.

By presenting the ID for the running, walking or Nordic walking badge, the examination in the endurance group of the DSA at the level gold is considered fulfilled in the year of the exhibition.
