Laupendahl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Until 1930, Laupendahl was a municipality in the Düsseldorf-Mettmann district in the Prussian Rhine Province . The area of the former community is now part of the Essen district of Kettwig and the cities of Heiligenhaus and Ratingen in the Mettmann district .

Geography and history

Laupendahl was originally an old monarchy in the Angermund office of the Duchy of Berg , which had developed around the two manors Hugenpoet and Landsberg . Laupendahl has belonged to the Mintard mayor since the French era . The core and population focus of the community was the place Kettwig in front of the bridge on the south bank of the Ruhr opposite the actual city of Kettwig.

On May 15, 1930 the municipality of Laupendahl was divided:

  • The rural area southeast of the Ruhr Valley Railway came to Heiligenhaus.
  • The rural area northwest of the Ruhr Valley Railway and south of the road to Mintard came under the then independent communities Breitscheid-Selbeck and Hösel, which had belonged to Ratingen since January 1, 1975 . These included Landsberg Castle and several individual courtyards on the Ruhr Heights and the Jewish cemetery on Blomericher Weg .
  • The densely populated northern part of the municipality with Kettwig in front of the bridge and Hugenpoet Castle came to the city of Kettwig, which has been a district of Essen since 1975.
