Laura Friedmann

Laura Friedmann ( April 8, 1860 in Berlin - after 1892) was a German opera singer ( coloratura soprano ).

Life

Friedmann showed her talent as a singer and was trained as an opera singer at the Royal University of Berlin from 1874 to 1877. a. trained in singing by Gustav Engel and Adolf Schulze and in acting by Minona Frieb-Blumauer and Karl Gustav Berndal .

On June 30, 1877, she passed her exam under the direction of Joseph Joachim and was released from work. Her first engagement was in Bremen under the direction of Max Pohl . She made her debut as "Queen" in The Huguenots . She stayed in Bremen for two years and then worked in Cologne from 1880 to 1882.

To perfect her education, she went to Paris to study with Pauline Viardot-Garcia for a year . In Paris she also met Charles Gounod , Giuseppe Verdi , Ambroise Thomas and Jules Massenet personally.

From 1883 to 1893 she was a member of the Royal Court Opera in Dresden, and she also appeared repeatedly as a concert singer.

She not only sang parts for coloratura soprano, but also dramatic parts. Her repertoire included a. "Susanna" in Figaro's wedding , "Donna Anna" in Don Giovanni , "Rosina" in the Barbier von Sevilla by Rossini, "Violetta" in Verdi's La Traviata , "Gilda" in Rigoletto and "Martha" in Flotow's Martha .
