Laura S. Matthews

Laura S. Matthews (born August 29, 1964 in Dudley , West Midlands , England ) is the pseudonym of Laura Dron , a British children's author.

life and work

Laura S. Matthews was born in England in 1964, the youngest of five children. She first attended a state school and then studied English literature at Goldsmiths, University of London , where she graduated with Honors. Matthews lived and worked in London for six years and has also lived in Hull in Northern England, the West Midlands, Alsace in Northern France and Hertfordshire .

With her first novel "Fisch" she was the last author to win the British children's book prize Kathleen Fidler Award , which was discontinued in 2002. She was nominated for the Branford Book Award and the Carnegie Medal .

She currently lives in Dorset with her husband and two children .
