Laure Gatet

Laure Constance Pierrette Gatet (born July 19, 1913 in Boussac-Bourg ; † February 25, 1943 in Auschwitz concentration camp ) was a French pharmacist , biochemist and resistance fighter .

After attending several school institutions in south-western France , particularly in Périgueux and Bordeaux , Laure Gatet began studying pharmacy before turning to biochemical research. During the German occupation , she joined the Confrèrerie Notre Dame resistance group , where she acted as a liaison officer for the France libre organization . She took part in propaganda campaigns against the Nazis and in the exchange of classified information between France and its neighboring countries. After being discovered by the German police, she was arrested on the evening of June 10, 1942 and deported to several prisons and concentration camps, most recently to Auschwitz , where she was murdered on February 25, 1943.
