Laurence O'Neill

Laurence O'Neill ( 1874 - July 26, 1943 ) was an Irish politician .

O'Neill was elected as an Independent to the 3rd Dáil Éireann in 1922. He represented the constituency of Dublin Mid West . In the 1923 elections for the 4th Dáil Éireann, he was no longer a candidate. On June 20, 1929 O'Neill was elected to the Seanad Éireann of the Free State in a by-election to fill the vacant seat of Henry Petty-FitzMaurice . In 1931 he was re-elected for a further nine years. However, the Senate was dissolved on May 29, 1936. On January 2, 1940, he was nominated by Taoiseach Eamon de Valera for a seat in the Seanad Éireann . O'Neill remained a senator until 1943. He did not run in the 1943 Senate elections.

O'Neill held from 1917 to 1924 the Office of the Lord Mayor of Dublin ( Lord Mayor of Dublin ). He was a member of the Dublin City Council until 1936.
