Laurence Revey is a Swiss music producer, composer, singer and author. with a vocal range of almost four octaves, up to the two-stroke F sharp.

Life

Born in Switzerland, she trained as an actor with Philippe Brigaud and Claude Matthieu in Paris. She attended courses at the Actors Studio at the American Center in Paris. She then studied opera in Geneva and classical singing at the Conservatoire de Lausanne. The contact with African musicians aroused her interest in dialects and dialects, which she later added to her repertoire alongside French and English. First solo appearances as a singer in bars followed.

Projects

She recorded her first demo CD in London with the support of English producer Pete Brown . The Englishman Chris Birkett put together her first album with her. She recorded an album with producer Hector Zazou . In a next step she engaged musicians from the Northern European electro jazz scene for an electronic version of the project: Nils Petter Molvear (ECM), Bugge Wesseltoft, the London collective Transglobal Underground (Natacha Atlas), the Swiss double bass player Mich Gerber and the Icelandic Gus Gus.

She appeared in various functions in international stage shows and received the special prize presented by the international jury of the Paléo Festival , followed by her “Solo in Silence”, a performance for solo voice and live sampling . The Montreux Jazz Festival invited them to “Laurence Revey & Friends”. Laurence Revey then went to the USA, where she was inspired by the New York underground scene, especially Arto Lindsay , for his own compositions and texts, and then traveled to Iceland, where she worked with the Icelandic producers Bardi Johannsson and Valgeir Sigurdsson recorded the album "Laurence Revey".

She then recorded the title IMMORTAL, for which Chris Elliot composed the arrangements for the strings. In 2016 “Alpine Blues / Le Blues des Alpages” was released in Switzerland. The CD includes the book: "Le Blues des Alpages & Alpine Blues" (Editions d'en Bas). In it, the author reports on her influences, the origins of her music and the artistic collaborations of the first few years. The English copywriter and poet Pete Brown , the dialect author Joël Nendaz , the Swiss writer Pedro Lenz and the Icelandic author Andri Snær Magnason were involved in the project.

Numerous titles of the singer have been selected for international compilations, in addition to songs by Daniel Lanois, Talvin Singh, Lamb, Miriam Makeba, Goldfrap, Cesaria Evora, Sigur Rós, Angelique Kidjo, Ute Lemper, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and others. v. a.
