Kiril Wassilew ( Bulgarian Кирил Василев , English transcription Kiril Vasilev ; born June 24, 1985 in Samokow ) is a former Bulgarian biathlete .

Kiril Wassilew lives in Samokov and trains in Sofia . He starts for the Nationla sport academy NSA , where Palakarski is his trainer. The sports teacher has been practicing biathlon since 1997 and has been part of the Bulgarian national team since 2002. The Bulgarian ran his first youth world championship in 2002 in Ridanna , without achieving any results worth mentioning. That changed a year later in Kościelisko . There he was tenth in the individual, won behind the Russian Andrei Dubassow Silmer in the sprint and fell back to 17th in the subsequent pursuit. In 2004 in Haute-Maurienne , Wassilew was able to achieve excellent results with fifth place in the individual, seven in the sprint and eight in the pursuit. The Junior World Championships in Kontiolahti in 2005 were less successful , but the Bulgarian found his way back to success in 2006 in Presque Isle . Behind the Russian Yevgeny Ustyugov he won her silver medal in the individual. In the sprint he was fifth and improved again in the subsequent pursuer to second place behind Ustjugow. In addition, there was seventh place with the relay. Vasilev has also been running in the Youth and Junior European Cup since 2002 and has consistently reached places among the top 15.

Vasilev has competed sporadically in the senior sector since 2004. His first missions were at the 2004 Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof . There he was 93rd in the sprint and 94th in the individual. At the start of the 2004/05 season , the Bulgarian also made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup . In his first sprint race in Beitostølen he was 92. He finished the following individual race at Holmenkollen in Oslo 64th. It is also his best result in the World Cup so far. In Antholz he ran the Biathlon World Championships in 2007 and was 68th in the sprint and 18th in the relay. Vasilev did not reach the goal individually. In 2008 he made it to the finish line in this competition in Östersund and finished 69th. In addition, there is 20th place with the relay.
