Laurence Stassen (born February 8, 1971 in Sittard ) is a Dutch politician ( VNL , formerly PVV ).

Life

Stassen was a journalist for TV Limburg .

In the 2009 European elections , Stassen entered the European Parliament for the Partij voor de Vrijheid (PVV) after PVV party leader Geert Wilders had renounced his mandate. Since March 2011 she has been chairwoman of the Limburg Provincial Association. In this province the PVV was also active in the provincial government .

In March 2014, she left this party after Wilder made discriminatory statements against Moroccans. She remained as an independent member of parliament until the end of the electoral term. In the European elections in 2014 , she stood for the party An Independence from Europe in the constituency of South East England, but failed to return to parliament. In December 2014 she joined the PVV spin-off VoorNederland , of which she became party leader.

Stassen campaigns for children with cancer and is active in two foundations. She lives in real life , is married and has two children.
