Restored Reformed Church
The Restored Reformed Church ( Dutch : Hersteld Hervormde Kerk, HHK ) is a Dutch church association that belongs to the Reformed Churches . The young church split off from the Protestant Church in the Netherlands after it was formed in May 2004 through the merger of the Dutch Reformed Church , the Gereformeerde Kerken in Nederland and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Kingdom of the Netherlands . Many members of orthodox inner-church associations such as the Gereformeerde Bond in de Nederlands Hervormde Kerk and Gekrookte Riet felt that the union with the Lutherans was a violation of Calvinism and split off from the new church. Later these split off congregations merged to form a new church association: the Restored Reformed Church.

Many members of the Restored Reformed Church come from the Reformed Earth Bond and the Gekrookte Riet of the Dutch Reformed Church. The local communities of the Restored Reformed Church see themselves as the heirs of the Closer Reformation . Theologically, the relations between the Restored Reformed Church and the Christian Reformed Church are very close, at the local level there is diverse cooperation.
The Restored Reformed Church has 118 wards, 61 preachers, 26 retired ministers, 2 candidates, 16 students, a missionary, and 2 assistant ministers. In the past decade there have been conflicts with the Protestant Church in the Netherlands over ownership of many church buildings and over the name of the Restored Reformed Church. Her original application to call herself the Restored Dutch Reformed Church was rejected by the court.
The Restored Reformed Church trains its ministers at the Restored Reformed Seminary in Amsterdam . In the political field, many members of the church vote for the Staatkundig Gereformeerde Partij . The Church is missionary active in Malawi and Suriname .
Number of members
The Sociaal en Cultureel Planbureau estimates the Restored Reformed Church to have 53,000 members. A first official publication of the membership numbers of the Restored Reformed Church itself named 56,753 members in 2010 (2014: 58,821). The largest municipalities are Staphorst and Ouddorp .
