Laurent Baumel
Laurent Baumel (born August 13, 1965 in Charleville-Mézières ) is a French politician ( PS ). He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2012 .
Baumel joined the Parti socialiste in 1987 and was a student in the student union UNEF-ID . In 1993 he entered the Mouvement des citoyens of Jean-Pierre Chevènement about, but returned in 1995 back to HP. From 1997 he worked as an employee of the European Minister Pierre Moscovici . After he left the government in 2002, Baumel worked for Dominique Strauss-Kahn . Between 2002 and 2011 he published several works in which he called for reforms within the PS. In 2008 he was elected mayor of Ballan-Miré in the Center . In the 2012 general electionhe ran for election in the fourth constituency of the Indre-et-Loire department , where he beat the previous MP Hervé Novelli and entered the National Assembly.
