Laurent Whale (born August 2, 1960 in Torquay , Devon ) is a Franco-British writer and translator. He is known as a writer of science fiction and detective novels .

His novel Les Pilleurs d'âmes was awarded the prestigious Prix ​​Rosny aîné in 2011 . It is about two intergalactic spies who become adversaries on Earth in 1666. One of the two, who calls himself Yoran Le Goff, becomes a member of a bloodthirsty gang of buccaneers . A little awkward at first, he slowly finds his way around the world of the Caribbean pirates of the 17th century and among the people friendship, but also betrayal, while he tries to uncover the machinations of his mysterious opponent and to eliminate him if possible.
