Laurenzergrund is a neighborhood in the fifth Viennese district Margareten .

The Laurenzergrund emerged from 1533 from the property association of the nuns of Maria Magdalena in front of the Schottentor and the Laurenzerinnen . As a result, the property increased and a suburb was created on Laurenzgasse south of Wiedner Hauptstrasse . This suburb was built around the Floriani Church, which was demolished in 1965 .

In 1806 the Laurenzergrund was bought by the Vienna community from the holdings of the Religionsfonds .

The incorporation took place in 1850 as part of the new 4th district of Wieden . In 1862 Laurenzergrund was assigned to the new 5th district of Margareten.
