Lautaro García
Lautaro García Vergara (born October 8, 1895 in San Fernando , † July 12, 1982 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean painter , singer and playwright .
As a painter, García was a student of Fernando Álvarez de Sotomayor at the Escuela de Bellas Artes and belongs to the painters group of the Generación del Trece . As a playwright, he wrote 15 pieces from peasant drama to comedy to farce. He also worked as an actor and art critic.
In the twenty years of his career as a singer, García u. a. at the Municipal Theater of Santiago, at the Nice Opera House and at La Scala in Milan . From 1929 to 1930 he was director of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes , 1937–38 Chilean consul in Rome. In 1958 he was awarded the Premio Nacional de Arte .
