The Laverda 500 SFC was a motorcycle from the former Italian manufacturer Laverda , which was presented as a production model after its success in the Italian one-make cup. Only 50 copies were built for the German market.

Laverda 500/350

The Laverda 500 appeared on the German market in 1976, a light and powerful motorcycle with a half-liter engine (bore / stroke: 72 × 61 mm) that developed 44 hp (32 kW) and was intended to expand the Laverda range. The chassis consisted of a double tube frame , Ceriani telescopic fork with 120 mm suspension travel, rear swing arm with 80 mm suspension travel, light alloy cast wheels and 3.50-18 tires. Braking was carried out with hydraulically operated Brembo disc brakes with a diameter of 260 mm. In Italy, a version with 350 cm³ displacement (60 instead of 72 mm bore) and 24 mm instead of 32 mm carburettor with 30 hp (22 kW) was also offered from 1978. Both versions were only built until 1982.

500 formula

Despite the manufacturer's economic difficulties, a fully faired, weight-reduced and more powerful racing version appeared in 1978. The first series, Laverda 500 Formula 1 (also Montjuic ) made, 52 hp (38 kW) at 9500 min -1 kg with an empty weight of the 154th The second series, the Laverda 500 Formula 2 , built from 1979 onwards , developed 60 hp (44 kW), partly through different pistons and camshafts, and reached a top speed of over 200 km / h. The racing motorcycles, built in 100 copies, were used in the Italian one-make cup Formula 500 until 1981 . For motorcycle endurance race special plant machinery were prepared.

Laverda 500 SFC

Inspired by the German importer Witt, a small series of 50 units was developed for the German market in 1981, the exterior of which was reminiscent of the racing version with half-shell cladding, set back footrest and seat bench. The performance of the engine remained almost unchanged compared to the first production version; however, the chassis was equipped with Marzocchi telescopic forks and spring struts, the tire size was 100 / 90-18 (front) and 110 / 90-18 (rear). The uncompromising sports machine remained on sale until 1983. The model, which was already exclusive at the time, was offered at a price of DM 8,590; well-used models now fetch twice the price.
