Lavinia Heller

Lavinia Heller (* in Rome ) is a German translation scholar.

Life

In 2006 she obtained her diploma as a translator (It-D, Chin-D) from the Department of Translation, Linguistics and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . From 2006 to 2008 she was a research assistant at the FTSK (Mainz), intercultural communication department. From 2008 to 2016 she was a research assistant at the FTSK (Mainz), department for French and Italian language and culture. In 2012 she was a lecturer for intercultural communication at the Institute for German as a Second and Foreign Language at the University of Duisburg-Essen . After completing her doctorate in general translation studies in 2012 at the FTSK, Mainz, she was university professor for translation studies at the Institute for Theoretical and Applied Translation Studies (ITAT) in Graz from 2016 to 2019 . Since 2019 she has been teaching as a university professor for translation studies at the faculty for translation, linguistics and cultural studies (FTSK) in Mainz .

Her research interests are general translation theory, translation history, translation sociology, translation in a scientific and philosophical context, and intercultural communication in modern societies.
