Cornelia Zwischenberger
Cornelia Zwischenberger (* 1981 in Lienz ) is an Austrian translation scholar .
Life
From 1999 to 2005 she studied translation studies with a focus on interpreting (language combination: German, Italian, English) at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz and the Università degli studi di Bologna . From 2008 to 2010 she was a research assistant in the FWF project Quality in Simultaneous Interpreting (QuaSI) at the Center for Translation Studies , University of Vienna. From 2010 to 2011 she was a lecturer for Italian and translation studies at the Center for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna. After completing her doctorate (2006–2011) at the University of Vienna in interpreting studies, she was a university assistant at the Center for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna from 2011 to 2016. From 2017 to 2018 she was visiting professor for translation studies at the Institute for Theoretical and Applied Translation Studies at Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz. From 2018 to 2020 she taught as a university professor for translation studies at the Institute for Theoretical and Applied Translation Studies at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz (temporary contract). In 2019, she turned down the call for a full professorship for translation studies at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz. Since March 2020 she has held the professorship for transcultural communication at the Institute for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna.
Her main research interests are (online) collaborative translation as a specific form of transcultural communication, use of the translation concept outside of translation studies from a transdisciplinary / transcultural perspective, translation and culture (especially British cultural studies), translation and transfer of academic texts, translation quality ( especially quality in conference interpreting) and translation from a sociological perspective (role, norms, status, ethics and ideology).
