Lea Bertani Vozar Newman

Lea Bertani Vozar Newman (born on 3. August 1926 in Chicago as Lea Bertani ) is an American literary scholar who is particularly emerged with works on American romance.

Life

She grew up as the daughter of Italian immigrants in Chicago's Little Italy and studied at Chicago Teachers College (now affiliated with Northeastern Illinois University ; BA 1947) and at Wayne State University ( MA 1966). In 1979 she received his doctorate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a research overview on the reception of short stories Nathaniel Hawthorne's to Ph.D.

She began teaching in 1965 at Macomb County Community College , moved to Pennsylvania State University in Schuylkill Haven after a year, and finally to North Adams State College (now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts ) in 1968 . In 1981 she became a full professor and in 1992 she retired.
