Lea Haller
Lea Haller (* 1977 in Zurich ) is a Swiss historian and journalist .
Life
Lea Haller studied history , folklore and German linguistics in Zurich and Hamburg . From 2007–2012 she was an assistant and doctoral candidate at the professorship for the history of technology at the ETH Zurich , with research stays at the Collegium Budapest (2010) and at the New Europe College Bucharest (2011). In 2011 she received her doctorate from the ETH Zurich; her dissertation on the history of cortisone was awarded the ETH medal. In 2012 Haller received a Branco Weiss Fellowship for a research project on the history of raw materials trading in Switzerland. 2012–2013 she was visiting scholar at SciencesPo in Paris , 2013–2014 Fellow at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies (CES) at Harvard University . 2014–2016 she worked at the Paul Bairoch Institute of Economic History at the University of Geneva . In 2019 her book was published on the development of the global trading system using Switzerland as an example: transit trade. Flows of money and goods in global capitalism .
In April 2018 Lea Haller joined the editorial team of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung as editor for NZZ History . In August 2019 she took over the editorial management of the magazine.
She lives in Zurich and Sonvilier and is married to the artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann .
