Leaf was one of the largest European manufacturers, marketers and distributors of confectionery and food additives (mainly for the confectionery and bakery industry).

The six main operating companies of the international group were managed by the Dutch holding company Leaf International BV . Leaf had 15 production sites in Europe.

The company was most recently active as CSM Sugar Confectionary, a subsidiary of Corbion . In the course of a management buy-out , the former management and the venture capital company CVC Capital Partners , Nordic Capital, had been majority owners since February 2005 . The annual turnover of the Leaf Group in 2004 was 745 million euros, in 2006 it was 638 million euros. In 2006 the group employed a total of around 3,500 people.

Products included confectionery raw materials, lozenges , chocolate and chewing gum . Leaf is the market leader in chewing gum, lozenges and confectionery in the Netherlands, Finland and Sweden. Leaf is one of the largest companies in these areas in Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Norway, the United Kingdom and Poland. Leaf has significant market shares in the chocolate sector in Finland (with its own brand “Tupla”) and in the sweeteners market in Italy (with its own brand “Dietor”).

In 2012 Leaf Holland BV merged with the Swedish confectionery manufacturer Cloetta . As a subsidiary in Germany, Leaf Deutschland GmbH was renamed Cloetta Deutschland GmbH in 2013 . Cloetta is currently one of the leading confectionery manufacturers in Scandinavia , the Netherlands and Italy . The Dutch subsidiary is based in Oosterhout ; Cloetta Germany is based in Bocholt .
