In the past, Leaf was successively part of Scitex and Kodak until it was renamed Leaf Imaging Ltd. in 2009 . was taken over by Phase One . Leaf develops and manufactures products for professional digital photography. In 1992 the first digital camera back for medium format cameras (Leaf DCB1) was brought onto the market. The resolution of this first device was 4 million pixels (MP), whereas current products reach up to 80 MP.

In September 2014, Leaf announced the Leaf Credo 50 back, which at 50 megapixel resolution offers a particularly wide range of settings with sensitivities up to ISO 6400. The new CMOS image processor significantly improves the live view performance compared to CCD-based devices and provides a dynamic range of 14 f-stops.
