Leatherface

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Leatherface , named after the villain from Tobe Hooper's blood dish in Texas (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), is a British punk band from Sunderland around guitarist and singer Frankie Stubbs and drummer Andrew Laing. The band has existed since August 1988 and has already released eight albums. Their music is described as a mixture of Hüsker Dü and Motörhead .

Frankie Stubbs -live (1993)
Dickie Hammond-Live (1993)

From 2006, Dickie Hammond was back after a 12 year break. So the band played with the exception of the bassist (since 1999 Davey Burdon) in the original line-up.

Jack Rabid , music critic and editor of The Big Takeover magazine , named Leatherfaces Mush (1992) one of the 50 best punk records of all time.

In 2008 Rubber Factory Records released a tribute album. On the double CD (limited to 2000 copies), 39 bands from eight countries cover Leatherface classics, including Hot Water Music , The Sainte Catherines and Radon.

Dickie Hammond died in the fall of 2015 at the age of 50.
