The Lebanon Reservoir is a small reservoir in Schylkill County, Pennsylvania . The lake is dammed by the Christian E. Siegrist Dam and serves to supply the city of Lebanon with water .
The reservoir
The reservoir is located between two ridges of the Appalachian Mountains , Sharp Mountain and Second Mountain . With normal congestion, the lake has an area of almost 43 hectares and contains 4.5 million m³ of water. It is fed by two streams - the Evening Branch flows into the southwest and the Fishing Creek flows into the northeast. Mill Creek forms the natural drain of the Lebanon Reservoir .
The dam
In 1994 the Christian E. Siegrist Dam was completed. The concrete dam is 38 meters high and has a crown length of about 200 m. It replaced an earthfill dam built in the 1940s , the approximately 21 m high High Bridge Dam (the name came from a former railway bridge at this point). The new dam is opposite the old dam a little further downstream. As a result, the storage volume of the Lebanon reservoir has increased significantly.
