archeology
In 1984 Franco Prinoth with Gianni Rizzo and Markus Delago were able to uncover at least two prehistoric find layers through excavations at Lech Sant: a deeper layer with a bronze needle, Bronze Age ceramics and flint tools and an upper layer with Iron Age pottery shards and calcined animal bones . From these finds it can be assumed that there was a burnt offering place at Lech Sant .
Legend of Lech Sant
Legend has it that a chapel once stood here. However, this was desecrated by shepherds who grazed their flocks on the alpine pastures at nightly dance festivals, as they were still very popular in later times by mowers on Fridays on the alpine pastures. As a punishment for this, the chapel and the shepherds disappeared into a hole that filled with water. This is how this alpine lake emerged. Sometimes, according to the vernacular, eerie lights can still be seen here, reminding of the shepherds.
